Do you Believe Yet? - DO

The Battlefords North Stars refuse to go away.

48 hours after an 8-2 loss in Humboldt, the Stars bounced back with a 6-1 victory over the Humboldt Broncos Thursday at the Civic Center.

Late in the first period the Stars had a 1-0 lead (Brody Malek on a Power Play), and again it was an unlikely source of offence that notched the game winner.

An injury to Woody Klassen allowed Ryan Toporowski to draw back into the lineup. He didn't dissapoint.

'Topper' received a pass from Ryan Anderson in front of the Humboldt net and scored on a back-hand rebound to grab a 2-0 lead.

"That goal happened because of Andy's hard work behind the net. He threw it out in front, and I stuck with it. Missed the first shot, but then I snuck the second one home," said Toporowski after the game.

The Stars faced some adversity in the second period when Dane Meunch was booted for a questionable checking from behind call, and with the score 2-1, Humboldt had the chance to tie the score in a penalty shot.

Kyle Birch prevailed, stopping Tory Allen and sending the Stars to the lockeroom up 2-1 through 40 minutes.

Mitch Wall scored twice in the third period, and Tony Oak and Ryan Anderson chipped in with singles to seal the deal.

Congratulations to North Star Fan Vicki Machniak. She was named the North Star's Ultimate iFan of the game, and received a $500 cash prize courtesy of Innovation Credit Union.
Game five of this series goes Saturday night form Humboldt. It's a 7:00 puck drop, with a 6:45 pre-game show on CJNB/CJNS.
