Stars Announce More Recruits.

The Battlefords North Stars would like to announce the signing of 2 players from the Manitoba Midget AAA League

Tanner Quinn and Tyson Stoesz have signed by the North Stars for the 2011-12 SJHL season.

Quinn, 18, from Winnipeg, was with the National Midget Champion Winnipeg Thrashers this past season where he had 18 goals and 27 assists for 45 PTS to go along with 28 PIM in 44 games.

Stoesz, 18, from Steinbach, played for the Eastman selects, where he had 19 goals and 24 assists for 43 PTS with 64 PIMS.

The North Stars would like to welcome these players to the Battlefords and look forward to seeing them at camp which starts August 31.

I'm a little suprised that the stars were able to sign Quinn. I saw him play in Moosejaw for the telus cup regionals. Hes got explosive speed and very good hands. Quinn brings a winning pedigree to the team. I havent seen Stoesz play. But when you can get a pt per game in a pretty good league, your good. Both were Manitobia AAA allstars. Nice signings.

does this mean we will be seeing a forward shipped out for a defence in the near future?

There does appear to be a log-jam of forwards. But as for any 'near future' deals, I'd say it's unlikely. Over the years I've come to realize that most trades start happening in either late August or early Deptember.

Also, don't put it past Ken to go out and recruit some more younger D.

I obviously meant 'September.' I hate having fat thumbs.

We lost 5 20 year old forwards, and we've signed 3, in my math we still have room for 2 more forwards....

With the two latest additions the Stars have 13 eligible forwards returning. That's before any WHL cuts and further recruits. Defensively only six eligible players.
