Klassen Named Defenceman of the Month (And Then Some..)

The Battlefords North Star's hockey club is pleased to announce that 18-year-old defenceman Woody Klassen (Watrous, SK) has been named the SJHL Defenceman of the Month for February.

In addition to that honor, Woody Klassen has also been named Player of the Month for the Battlefords North Stars for the month of February.

Klassen ended the season with 11 points in 10 games during the month of February. The major highlight for Klassen came on February 10th, when he recorded a goal and four assists against the Melfort Mustangs.

"He's come a long way since last year," said North Star's Coach and GM Ken Pearson who has fondly spoken of Klassen's leadership and character all season.

Klassen has established himself as one of the premiere defenceman in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, and should only continue to improve as time marches on.

I asked Ken yesterday, and as you might expect, he was very tight-lipped about it.

He said he won't know until tomorrow morning after the team has their morning skate.
