Last night's edition of the Co-Op Leisure Time Sports Fix was one of the most fun yet. Over the weekend I was brainstorming ideas for the show, and I thought it would be neat to get some of the players into the players into the studio, hit record and then see what happens.
We found success.
Mitch Wall, Brody Malek, Troy Watt, Blake Peake, Josh Daley and Blake Tatchell were awesome. We kept it light, and we simply reflected on the past handful of months and games.
However towards the end, things got quiet once the subject of the Melfort Mustangs came up. It was neat to see and hear the focus that overtook the guys when we started talking about the series. The main consensus is that the Stars feel like they have just as good a chance as any team to win a championship this year.
But in order to win a championship, you've got to beat you're first round opponent, and the Melfort Mustangs be no pushover. I'm anticipating a six or seven game series, and I would suggest you do the same.

My other guest on the show last night was the voice of the La Ronge Ice Wolves, Dallas Hicks. Hicks and I spent most of our time talking about the Ice Wolves series with the Broncos, but towards the end, I couldn't help myself:
I had to talk about the 'possibility' of an Ice Wolves/Bombers semi-final series.
Hicks said, "If fans can't get excited for a series like this, then they don't deserve it!"
How true.
Not to take anything whatsoever away from the Mustangs and Stars, but I've got a feeling that the Ice Wolves and Bombers are in for a war. These two teams have yet to meet in the playoffs, and they already had one of the best rivalries in the division. Can you imagine what a seven-game series will do for that rivalry?
In that same breath though, I'm curious as to what the Star's/Mustang's series has in store. Historically these two teams may not have the lustre of say a Melfort/Humboldt matchup or a Battlefords/La Ronge meeting, but that's what playoffs are for - To create new rivalries and to expand on old ones!
Can you tell how excited I am? It's only Tuesday.
Again, a reminder to fans - You can purchase you're playoff tickets tomorrow night at the Civic Center souvenir booth from 7-9 PM. Tickets are also available through the Scott Campbell Dodge service department.
