Stars Add Two From Kindersley

This deal was completed last night, and is now official:

The Battlefords North Stars have acquired 20-year-old defenceman Lance Tabin (Tay-bin) and the rights to 18-year-old forward Braedon Johnson in exchange for 17-year-old forward Michael Sagen and 17-year-old forward Justin Lund.

Tabin (Regina) is a stay-at-home defenceman who is 6' and 200 pounds. He has seven points in 39 games with Kindersley this season.

Johnson had been reassigned to Kindersley via the Saskatoon Blades. In 31 games witg the Blades this year, Johnson tallied three goals and and five assists.

Tabin will not play tonight because of an injury to his shoulder. Johnson is arriving tomorrow and will likely draw in on Friday night. .

Heck of a move. With what all the other teams are doing in the conference the stars needed another 20 year old stay at home defenceman. He adds experience and toughness to the blueline. Johnson is a h**** of a player. I saw him play with the blades this year. VERY FAST and has good hands and is physical. The stars are lucky to get him.

There you go Ken trades for a player who is injured and one who is reasigned for the time being. For two more futures. Wow good move!

I don't think Anonymous #2 is very supportive of Ken. Sarcasm intended.

I look forward to seeing the new additions and I send good thoughts to the team for tonights game in LA. I'll be listening to the broadcast so Dan any extra info you learn and tell us on the radio would be appreciated.

Go Stars!

I agree with Anonymous#3. We are fans and not general managers. We support our GM who has a lot more experience and information on these players than we do. Change can be good. We need to give these players a change to show us what they can do. We are improving.
As for Dan, his support of the team and his broadcast of the games, we thank you. You do a great job of keeping us informed and entertained. Thank you! I look forward to your call of the game tonight and every broadcast.

I'm of the opinion you have never seen Johnson play. Yes he was re-assigned... Luhning was re-assigned too.... Your point?? Hes injured for a week. If the only thing you have to contribute to this blog is negativity i suggest you take a hike.... You come on here and say stuff that you have no idea about... With Johnson being a 1992, he wont make the blades next year either. So we have a player that is very dynamic for 3 years. I can tell you this... The stars are very lucky to get Johnson,if you knew anything, Camrose was trying to get him. Johnson wanted to play close to home and with Kindersley's log jam up front and the re-assignement of another WHL player Johnson became available. The injured player is injured for about a week, he should be back next week. You look at all the other teams that have a chance and they all gave up prospects. Yorkton is gonna give Humboldt the farm and then some next year... Melfort is giving the farm and then some to i believe 8 teams. So to give up 3 decent prospects and try and go for a run isnt all that bad. Lund and Sagen are players that can be replaced. Picard is a player that wasnt going to report here any ways.. I am also told that the futures for Muench is a very nice present... Muench wasn't going to report here so we got something in return. If Ken wouldnt of moved him then he probably would of quit hockey and you get nothing for him. Just wait and see what the futures are... Cole Gibson is good. We lose Cech and add Gibson. So we lose a 20 year old and add a 20 year old... Gibson is twice the player that Cech is. And Cech was good. I see all these moves as up grades. Instead of 1992 Muench we get 1992 Johnson and plus we get futures for Muench... Instead of 1990 Cech we get 1990 Gibson. And Gibson is the better player. We get futures for Cech as well. And instead of 1991 Kimery we add 1990 Tabin who is a very good stay at home defenceman with experience.

Hey Anonymous why dont u go be negative somewhere else
We needed another defenseman and i am sure his injury isnt very much if we traded for him. As far as Johnson he is a 92 and very well could be here next year and the year after. Lund has 7 goals with the Stars this year and Sagen who is with Regina has a way better chance staying in the Dub as a 93 then Johnson. But you complain about everything so whats a guy to say.

Five of these six posts are awesome. I love the positivity and I'm sure the players and coaching staff do as well.

Hey were going all the way now! Watch out RBC! The Stars are back!

Johnson will be a great acquisiton to the Stars. The guy had 8 points with the Blades with minimal playing time. His reasignment to Junior A was his choice since Schenn joined the Blades. He is a guy who wants to play hockey and help a team win (not watch a team win). Good job STARS.

The thing i like about these moves are, we really didnt give up too much. I hear Yorkton is giving Humboldt there 2 top players next year as well as there top defenceman. So that would be equivalent to the stars giving up Tatchell, Miller, Klassen. Thaose are huge pieces to the puzzle. Imagine if Yorkton doesnt win it, look what they gave up. For us we gave up some list players and we still get Johnson for next year and the year after... We didnt part with any roster players with the exception of Cech and Kimery. I like these moves. To bad Johnson couldnt join the stars tonight for the Laronge game.

Great move! I've been around the hockey seen for many years now and this is one of the smartest trades i have seen. i've watched lund play... and well there's nothin special about him at all, lazy and selfish! like anonymous said both players can be easily replaced! also heard rumours that lund quite or got released from the aaa stars? Says a bit about his character right there. but great move stars!!
