North Stars Gear Up to Fight Breast Cancer!



North Stars coach Ken Pearson and 2009/2010 SJHL team are gearing up in Pink on Friday January 15th to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. In the coaches message online he said “Both on and off the ice, the Battlefords North Stars take enormous pride in their community involvement.” The North Stars plan to “make
sure that they continue to bring ‘courage’ and ‘commitment’ to our community.”

This is not the first year for the North Stars to gear up in Pink to promote awareness and funds for breast cancer research. With one out of every 8 women in Canada developing breast cancer the issue is close to many. In 2009 The North Stars raised close to $2000 with the sale of the signed Pink Jerseys and this year hope to raise even This year’s funds will be donated to the Pink Warrior Foundation from Saskatoon SK. ensuring that the funds raised stay in Saskatchewan and benefit the people across our province.

Pink Warrior is the becoming known in the cancer research industry for its fundraising for all types of cancer. In
late 2006, Kelly Gatzke, as the husband of a cancer survivor made a family decision to fight cancer. In three short years Pink Warrior has raised over $100,000.00 through a variety of events including the Pink Warrior Classic Golf Tournament and internet sales at Pink Warrior.com.
