Cats Ink California D-Man.





The Prince George Cougars are pleased to announce the signing of 1995-born defenceman Michael Mylchreest to a standard Western Hockey League contract. Mylchreest, from Gilroy, California stands 6’2” and checks in at 188 pounds. He played his Midget hockey for the San Jose Jr. Sharks (NAPHL).

“We are so pleased that an elite American player chose the Western Hockey League, and chose the Prince George Cougars,” said Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel Wade Klippenstein. “He wants to be a pro. He’s willing to put in the work and we want to help him get to the next level.”

“We are pleased that Michael and his family have committed to our Hockey Club,” said Prince George Cougars General Manager Dallas Thompson. “The recruiting process with the Mylchreest family was very thorough, and in the end, the Major Junior route met their needs.”

“It was a pretty exciting moment,” said Mylchreest. “Once we did it, I felt a lot better. We knew when we came here to Training Camp that it just felt right.”

The Prince George Cougars would also like to thank Scout Troy Zasowski and the San Jose Jr. Sharks program for the effort and development given to Michael.

Of the 31 players remaining on the Prince George Cougars pre-season roster, 11 are defencemen.
