Bruins Stun Stars 6-5.

Tuesday night in Estevan the Battlefords North Stars had their winning streak snapped with a 6-5 loss to Estevan. Former North Star Ryan Andersen scored three goals in the third period to lead the Bruins comeback.

The Stars led 1-0 after one. Tim Rollins scored the game's first goal off a Brody Luhning rebound.

Dylan Smith tied it early in the second with a backhand goal that fooled Graham Hildebrand. The lead was short-lived as Kyle Hall scored his sixth of the year, and Shayne Morrissey followed that up with his sixth.

The Bruins would climb back within one late in the frame on Dylan Smith's second of the game on a power play.

Early in the third, the Bruins tied it on Ryan Andersen's first of the game. But the Stars got it right back the next shift on Travis Cech's third of the season.

The middle of the third belonged to Estevan. Dylan Smith tallied his third of the game on a tip in, and Andersen then scored his second off the rush to give the Bruins their first lead.

The Stars tied it at 16:23 of the third on a perfect point shot from Cody Folstad.

Heading into the final minute, overtime seemed certain. But Ryan Andersen and his linemates had other ideas. Andersen raced in on Travis Sparrow, made a move to the outside and shovelled a low back-hand past Graham Hildebrand for the game winner and his third of the night.

The Bruins outshot the Stars 39 to 32. The Stars were 0 for three on the man advantage while Estevan finished one for four.

The Stars will look to split this two game road swing tomorrow night in Weyburn. You can hear the broadcast live on CJNB/CJNS starting at 7:15.

We're back up at around 40 shots against. The Stars need to have more consistency from the defense. This game shows that offense won't always win a game for you.

Great call last night Dan O

Chec line on for one minute twenty seconds and he leaves them on for the last minute, goal scored because they could hardly breath, another coaching mistake. At least half of our loses come from coaching mistakes. Tachell line minus 2 and chec line minus one after being on the ice for 2 goals for, defence!

Actually, I think it was Tatchell line minus 2, Chec line minus 3.

Shifs are too long.

The team is going to have to think seriously about staying overnight in Weyburn tonight. The weather looks to be pretty bad for driving.

The game winner wasn't scored because the Cech line couldn't breathe; it was scored because a weak goal was let in. Our D had Anderson pushed to the outside and the backhand shot snuck through. I'm not saying Hildy played bad because I'm a Hildy fan and he made some outstanding saves; but ya, he probably did want that one back. It was nice to see the boys battle hard last night. They deserved the win; its unfortunate they couldn't hang on. And don't get in a panic about the standings; as long as we make the playoffs we have a chance. Don't forget the league finals last year were between a 4th and 5th place team.

Plus/minus, don't forget to add in the GOALS scored by each line in their PLUS/MINUS. Not all goals are the FORWARDS fault there people. If a dman gets undressed, or goalie lets in a questionable one, its not the forwards fault. Or if you were on the ice but had nothing to do with creating a goal or good play, do you deserve the credit. Thats why plus/minus is not a good statistic in itself. I think every fan can tell you that the goaltending has been questionable no matter who is on the ice.
That being said,it looks like Estevan's top line really dominated this game and the stars top line did not.

Hey Miss, we dont want just a chance! We want and should be one of the favourites. When one line scores 6 goals against you, you dont deserve to win. Where is the shut down line?
It is either that we are horrible defensively as a team from the goalie on out, or the coach doesn't know how to coach defence. Take your pick, we will never win until our defensive play greatly improves!

We've got a very good team. Our coach is a very good coach. We've got an explosive offence and out Defence is good as well. Give it time to all come together. I like the make up of our team. Thats the thing tho. You look at Estevan they've got one explosive line Humboldt has one explosive line, but a team like the stars and laronge have 4 lines that can score. In the end thats what wins championships. Offence cant be taught and defence can be taught.
