Stars Regain Their Stride At Home Against Melville.

After a tough start to the season at home, the Civic Center is starting to become a tough place for opponents to play in. The Battlefords North Stars earned their third consecutive home-ice victory Friday with a 7-3 decision over the Melville Millionaires. Keith Grondin scored twice while Kyle Birch made 28 saves for the victory.

The score was tied 1-1 after one. Early on at 3:54 Blake Tatchell opened the scoring with a short-handed marker. The Millionaires bounced back with a power-play tally of their own when Braydon Metz notched his first of two on the night.

Early in the second period, Keith Grondin put home is 13th goal of the year for the Stars with Blake Tatchell and Colin Phaneuf drawing assists. Cris Neurauter would then score on the man-advantage to give the Stars a 3-1 lead mid-way through the game. Braydon Metz scored again for Melville late in the second to keep things close.

The third period started the same way that the first two did. The Stars made it 4-2 thanks to Tim Rollins, but Melville's Cody Hanson scored his 13th of the year to make it 4-3. From there, the Stars took over.

Keith Grondin grabbed an insurance marker at 11:32 (from Phaneuf) and Travis Cech and Kyle Hall also scored to help preserve the 7-3 victory.

The Stars finished one for six on the power-play while Melville finished two for five.

Up next for the Stars, a return to Melfort for another showdown with the Melfort Mustangs. That battle goes Wednesday night at 7:30.

I enjoy watching this group of Stars play. Its great to see the big hits. Woody has really cranked some guys in the last few games. The puck is being moved around nicely on the power play and has set up some really nice scoring opportunities. Although Birch hasn't been at his best; you can tell that he brings his passion for the game every time he starts. Grondin has been on fire. Going back to a question that was posted earlier in the year; I think we win that trade hands down. Keep it up boys!!

Personally i'd like to see Hildy get 3 or 4 starts in a row to gain some consistency in goal, he does have much better numbers than birch.

Miss - I believe the Grondin/Daley trade was good for both teams. In 16 games Grondin has 14 goals & 4 assists on the top line. Daley, in 17 games with the Kings, has 12 goals and 8 assists on the second line. 7 of those points have come on the power play. Seems that a change in scenery was good for both players.

Daley was soft, grondin hits and scores. He brought much needed sandpaper to this lineup

Last time I looked points on the score board win the games. Everyone on a line has their role.

I agree with pappy, trade working out for both players.
