Daley Scores Twice as Stars Beat Kindersley

After two tough losses away from home earlier this week, the Battlefords North Stars returned home Friday night needing a boost in momentum.

They got it in the form of their power-play.

The Stars tallied three times on the man-advantage en route to a 5-3 victory at home over the Kindersley Klippers.

Mitch Wall opened the scoring for the Stars 6:25 into the game on the power-play. Brett Miller fed Wall behind the net, and Wall did the rest. He curled around the net on his forehand side, and outwaited Josh Thorimbert to tally his sixth goal of the season.

The Stars outshot Kinderlsey 17-14 after one period, as both Josh Thorimbert and Kyle Birch made some fine stops.

Early in the second, the Stars struck again, this time it was Josh Daley. Daley raced down the right side of the ice, and fired a low snap-shot by Josh Thorimbert for his eigth goal of the year.

Justin Waskewitch scored his fifth of the year a few moments later. Brett Miller would add his 13th, and Josh Daley scored his ninth of the year mid-way through the second, and that spelled the end of the night for Kindersley netminder Josh Thorimbert.

The Klippers finally beat Birch early in the third period, as Taylor Duzan banged home a Jordan Braid rebound for his sixth of the year. Steven Turner then made things very interesting with two straight goals, and with 9:50 gone in the third, it was a 5-3 score.

The North Stars simplified, and increased their intensity. The game ended without another strong chance from the Klippers.

Before the game, Brett Miller was named Player of the Month for November. Miller had three shootout winners, a long with two other game winning goals.

Up next for the Stars, a home matchup with the Melfort Mustangs on Sunday night at 7:30. If all goes according to plan, Dane Muench will be making his 09-10 Stars debut.
