Stars - Kings Trade. (Daley Dealt to Dauphin)

The Battlefords North Stars have dealt 20-year-old forward Josh Daley to the Dauphin Kings (MJHL) in exchange or 20-year-old forward Keith
Grondin and 18-year-old forward Brandon Esposito.

Daley scored 23 goals last season for the Stars and was named to the SJHL's Bauer Conference All-Star team.

Both Grondin and Esposito are expected to slide into the lineup immediately. Coach Ken Pearson says that both will add some skill and size to the lineup.

The Stars battle the Melfort Mustangs tonight at the Civic Center. Game time is 7:30.

Hmm not sure what to think of this one Dano. No idea what the 2 players acquired will bring to the lineup, but I thought Daley was the most impressive Stars player against the Klippers this past weekend.

Well i dont want to be that guy but i called it. Good to get 2 kids back for him, Yes Daley has a ton of skill but he lacks heart, effort and the ability to compete for the puck. Even if these 2 kids dont work out this will help the dressing room. We have some good 92 and 91 that are looking at a 90 and saying wow i dont have to put in any effort and just drag my butt at practice and the gym and show up when i want to at games. Thanks Josh hopefully a new team will help.

I tried to send a post before, but it didn't seem to get through. If this is a second post, please excuse.
The trade of Josh came as big surprise to us, his family, and to Josh himself. He worked so hard this past summer to prepare himself for this season as he knew it was a big year not only for himself, but also the team. When he left home last year for the Battlefords, 2000 miles away, we were very apprehensive. But, the way the team and town accepted him made us feel that he was in good hands. Trades are part of the game and we hope that Dauphin opens up new opportunities for him, but it still doesn't make it any easier. We want to thank Coach Ken and the team for giving him the opportunity, his team mates and the town for accepting him and making him feel at "home", and especially his billets, Jim & Debbie Percesky, for all that they did to make this such a pleasant experience. A special thank you goes to Dano for his observations and reporting of the games; you made the distance seem shorter. We will miss Josh's intro to the broadcasts. I know that Josh's dream was to play for the cup this year, and I'm sure that he will be looking for the Battlefords to be his opponent. Best of luck to the team.

Trades are a part of hockey. Since the first day of last year, I thought Daley had exceptional skill and his hands were very good. Hes a faboulous hockey player and maybe a change of scenery was all that he needed. Hopefully in Dauphin he can get his scoring touch back and light the lamp like he did last year. If he plays like he did last year, theres no doubt in my mind that he will get an NCAA d1. scholarship. I also think he could have the skill to make it to the NHL. I wish we could of stayed but who knows maybe this what Josh needed and maybe bringing in some new faces will spark the team. Best of luck in Dauphin, and thanks "Pitsburgh" for being a part of the stars. Just remember, once a star always a star........

Daley never lacked in heart! Anyone who knows him, knows that! He worked very hard and was always out for the bettering of the team, never self centered. He loved playing for the Stars and always kept those around him upbeat, even when times got hard. I know he will always keep the friends he met in battleford close to his heart, and wishes the best to the Stars. Thanks to all of the fans and members of the North Stars staff, that made Josh's stay so special. This is just another great step in his life.

I wouldn't say Josh lacked heart; just played a different style of game. I think his style is more suited for the MJ. Looking forward to seeing him play here in MB!! Thanks Pappy for your comments over the last year. You will be missed as well!!

Daley was a great player and I hate to see him go. But some changes needed to be made and hopefully things work out for the team. It will be interesting to see how the new guys play tonight. And as of the comment about Daley not having heart or giving effort...thats a load of crap. For a kid to come up here to North Battleford from the U.S. where he knew nobody and have the kind of season he did last year. I dont know what Daley you were watching but every game I went to I thought he was the best player on the ice....SJHL All-Star who didn't work hard or put in any effort? Ummm...doesnt sound right to me. Goodluck to Josh wherever he goes, you will be missed.

I don't know if he lacked heart per say, but he sure plays a different style of game than you normally see on the prairies.

He doesn't go to the hard areas of the ice and doesn't play with enough jam.

He got by last year on his talent, which he has a TON of.

If you can't get by on your talent, what the heck should you rely on??? Daley brought a lot to the team - maturity, dignity, respect. Along with a couple other players who get overlooked for their contribution. A team needs more than the players who play like loose cannons. Losing Daley is a loss to the team. No doubt. And doesn't look like any of the "replacements" offer what he did.
