Stars 3 - Wolves 2

Friday night in the Battlefords the North Stars pieced a full 60-minute effort together and defeated the defending league champions from La Ronge 3-2.

Graham Hildebrand got his first start of the season and did not dissapoint. He stopped 30 of 32 shots and looked calm and poised throughout the game.

Offensively the Stars received goals from Tony Oak(2), Colin Phaneuf(5), and Woody Klassen (3). Klassen's goal would stick as the game winner. It was scored late in the second on the power-play.

La Ronge countered with goals from Phil Belanger and Taylor Piller.

The Stars outshot the Wolves 36-32 and finished one-for-five on the powerplay.

Up next for the Stars, a trip to Humboldt to face the Broncos on Tuesday.

Way to go Hildy great game the boys were came together for ya. He is just such a sound goalie with great position in the net and doesnt get caught out of the net. Sixty effort for sure tonight, they played alot tougher last night. Good start keep it up and do some team unity this weekend.

Finally! A great effort by the whole team and it's so nice to see the boys be rewarded. Hildy was phenomenal - to come back after an injury with all the pressure of the losses piling up and playing the defending champs - he looked so poised and confident. I think his confidence between the pipes transcended to the rest of the team and gave them that boost they needed. Tatch looked great, Phaneuf played a solid 60 minutes but Woody was the hero. Amazing goal, amazing effort. Woody for captain!!!!

Too bad the wolves definitely did not play their best. Had they played the way they did in Kindersley on Saturday the Stars would have got creamed. They got lucky the wolves had not played in two weeks. Stars better be ready for next time!
