Stars - Wolves Preview.
Record: 2-1
Who's Up Front:
20-year-old forward Travis Eggum is on a tear. Eggam has six goals through the first three games of the season and has provided Bob Beatty's team with some consistent offense through the first three games of the season. Add the likes of Doug Lindensmith and Marc-Andre Carre and the Wolves have a number of veterans who can make opposing teams pay.
Who's on D:
Phil Belanger and Ben Bula both have three points in three games. Both will be expected to contribute at both ends of the ice tonight in the Battlefords.
Who's in Goal:
North Battleford's Adam Bartko is the likely candidate to get the start tonight. Bartko has two wins already this year, even though his numbers are not great. Bartko has a Goals Against Average of 5.83 and a save percentage of %.813. Numbers aside, we all know that Bartko will have some added motivation for tonight's game. The former North Star always plays well against his former team, and tonight should be no exception providing he does get the start.
X-Factor:
Another former North Star Richard Cameron will be under the microscope tonight. The 20-year-old from North Battleford has two goals in his first three games, and it seems as though Cameron could be on the brink of a breakout year in his final SJHL season.
Record: 0-5-1-1
Who's Up Front:
New forward Keith Grondin will likely skate with Blake Tatchell and Colin Phaneuf for a second straight game. Grondin showed glimpses of strength and skill last Tuesday against Melfort, and had several chances to score. I'm sure Grondin would love to score his first goal as a North Star sooner than later to get it out of the way.
Who's on D:
Woody Klassen has more points than any other SJHL defenceman. The 19-year-old from Watrous has nine points through seven games. If he can continue to contribute offensively as well as in his own end, the Stars will be in position to snap this skid sooner than later.
Who's in Goal:
Graham Hildebrand will get his first start of the 2010-2011 season tonight against the Ice Wolves.
X-Factor:
Call it a hunch, but I think Shayne Morrissey is due for a breakout game. He and his linemates (Tanner Schwab and Tim Rollins) had a solid game last Tuesday, and could be ripe for a breakout game against the Ice Wolves.
