Monday afternoon in Moose Jaw, the Prince George Cougars lost 6-0 to the Moose Jaw Warriors. Collin Bowman and Torrin White each had two goals while Luke Siemens made 21 saves for the shutout.
The Warriors scored twice in each period. Torrin White opened the scoring on a breakway at 6:06 of the first period, and 2:06 later Andrew Johnson put home a rebound on a backhanded shot.
The Cougars found some life shortly after the Warrior’s second goal. Tayler Thompson was able to set up Alex Forsberg with a glorious chance in front, but Luke Siemens stood tall and made a tough save.
The second period went back and forth with both teams getting their share of chances. The Cougars then lost the services of Josh Smith, who was removed from the game for a Major-Kneeing penalty on Sebastian Svendsen. The Warriors didn’t capitalize on their man-advantage, but did strike twice in the late stages of the second.
Collin Bowman netted his first of the season on a low wrist-shot from the right point that switched directions on Drew Owsley.. Carter Hanson then delivered the fourth Moose Jaw goal not long after Bowman’s goal.
Both Bowman and White added their second markers of the game to wrap it up in the third.
The Cougars were outshot 39-21 and finished zero-for-one on the power-play while Moose Jaw finished zero-for-five.
The Cougars will look to get back on track on Wednesday night when they take the ice in Swift Current.
