Stars Stay In First

i have got to had it to the North Star's fans.

You guys brought it, and brought it hard last night! Seriously, I was so impressed with the noise, and the energy last night in the Stars 2-1 shootout victory over the Flin Flon Bombers.

---------------------------------------------------

The Flin Flon Bombers led 1-0 for a majority of the game thanks to a first period goal from Dominic Martel.

The second period produced no goals, but plenty of great stops, as Graham Hilldebrand and Matt Weninger put forward a terrific battle.

Midway through the third period, Flin Flon got into penalty trouble, and the Stars tied the game at 8:08. Who else? Brett Miller. He grabbed his eigth goal of the season and ensured that the Stars grabbed at least a point against the Bombers.

Graham Hilldebrand did the rest. He was brilliant down the stretch, and made a number of key saves in regulation.

Overtime solved nothing.

Blake Peake scored first for the Stars in the shootout, and Josh Daley and Myles Cameron both missed.

David Dykstra, and Devon Mitzner missed for Flin Flon before Matt Lecours tied it up.

Boyd Wakelin missed for the Stars, and Alex Lamontagne was unable to bury for Flin Flon in Round 4.

The Stars grabbed the shootout lead when Brett Miller fired one through the legs of Weninger.

Michael Young raced back and fired one over the net, and the Stars won the game.

With the win, the Stars improve to 7-5-1-0 and have the outright lead in the Bauer Conference by one point over the Flin Flon Bombers.

Up next for the Stars, the Nipawin Hawks, tonight at 7:30. This game will be broadcast on CJNB/CJNS and www.cjnb.com. This will be the first matchup between these two teams since last year's Itech Conference Survivor Series.

Enjoy the broadcast tonight!

I'll preview the matchup later on this afternoon on the bus. I've got photos coming up shortly.
