The Battlefords have their opening-night goaltender and it's not Kyle Birch(suspension) or Graham Hildebrand (knee).
The Stars have acquired goaltender Alexandre Sirard (91) from the Estevan Bruins in exchange for future considerations. Sirard will start for the Stars Saturday night for their home-opener against Kindersley.
Sirard split last season with the Swift Current Broncos (WHL) and the Estevan Bruins. Sirard had a record of 2-4-1 in eight W.H.L. games and dressed in another four games for the Estevan Bruins.
It was widely believed that Garrett Montour would start the home-opener, but he was released following Tuesday's 8-5 pre-season loss in Humboldt.
Given the injury to Graham Hildebrand, Sirard will serve as a backup to Kyle Birch moving forward. Birch is eligible to return to action on September 21st when Humboldt is in town.

This really opens the door for one of Birch or Hildy to be moved.
I've been a big Hildebrand supporter, as his age made him a much more valuable asset.
But with the new guy being a 91, that throws that out the window.
Well good, I love how pearson doesnt screw around and gets what he needs. Watch this goalie stand on his head and take over the number 1 job. Decisions decisions
This is what I like about Ken. He had a goalie Montour who played AA and junior B and struggled immensly. Then he finds a goalie that has major junior experience and a year of Junior A experience to help birch out. This is a huge upgrade for a low price. Lets say Hildy is out for a month with an injury, you need a goalie that can step in and help win. If this guy perfoms well it could be tough decisions a head. I read a thing on the net that he was the 3rd goalie left at the Broncos camp last year. So basically we get a WHL 3rd stringer for peanuts. I like this move.
