Please Pray...

***From Craig Stein's Blog***

With permission from the Boechler family, I am passing on information that Luke, a 19-year-old goalie with the Yorkton Terriers, was diagnosed with Leukemia late last week, and is beginning treatment in Regina today (Monday, February 8)

.The following is a portion of an email from Luke's dad Brian:

Luke is now in the Pasqua Hospital (in Regina) - feeling quite well and in good spirits - awaiting chemotherapy which begins (today, Monday). Doctors tell us the first two rounds of chemo will run over the next 42 days (21 days each) and further treatment/action will depend on how he responds once this chemo is completed. The course of the treatment is likely to run for close to 6 months - and it is possible that he may be required to stay in hospital throughout.

Our family would like to thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers.May God's blessings be with you all - and if you find the time, please sneak in a little prayer for Luke.- Brian & Jeannine Boechler

Let's step it up North Star Nation. Let's all say a prayer and show our support for Luke.

This battle goes far beyond anything on the ice.

Check out http://craigstein.blogspot.com and if you feel compelled to leave a comment, I'm sure the Boechler family would appreciate it.

I remember several years ago, back here in Pittsburgh, an athlete around the same age was diagnosed with a similar disease. His name is Mario Lemieux. He came through the ordeal fine. We pray the same outcome for Luke. God Bless.
