Szucki Lifts Stars Over Klippers.

North Star fans got a fantastic glimpse of the team's future last night.

The Battlefords North Stars defeated the Kindersley Klippers 6-3 on the
strength of three goals from rookie forward Ward Szucki.

Szucki scored the first three goals of the game and has now notched 19 goals this season.

After the game, Assistant coach Blair Atcheynum commended the line of
Szucki, Tatchell and Waklin and said that they, "Set the tone for our forward lines early in the game. They're keeping it simple and are
getting rewarded for it."

The Star also received goals from Chad Filteau, Woody Klassen and Brett Miller.

The Stars led 2-0 mid-way through the hockey game before Kindersley made a game of it.

Klipper defenceman/forward Riley Down scored his first goal in the SJHL at 13:19 of the second period to draw Kindersley within one. Then in the final seconds of the second, Taylor Duzan stole the puck away from the North Star's defence and finessed the puck home with just one second left in the frame to tie the game at two.

Roughly eight minutes into the third period, Szucki's third of the game gave the Stars another lead. The Klippers countered with a goal from
Jordan Hoffman at 12:12 and the game was tied yet again.

Chad Filteau (23) responded 24 seconds later for the Stars on a gorgeous back-hand deke, and the Stars were solid from then on.

Woody Klassen (10) tallied one minute later, and Brett Miller (23) put the game out of reach at 17:50 of the third period.

A scary moment for the Stars late in the third, as goaltender Graham Hildebrand left the game with a charlie-horse in his right leg.
Initially it looked scary, but after the game Hildebrand said he's fine and likely won't miss anytime.

Injury aside, Hildebrand earned his sixth win in his last eight games.

The Stars have one more game remaining in their regular season, and it goes tomorrow nght against the defending champion Humboldt Broncos.

The puck drops at 7:30, and you'll want to be a part of the festivities,
because the Scott Campbell Dodge 'Shoot To Win' Competition is now set
for $2000 and it WILL be given away. Come to a Stars game and have a chance at 2000 dollars. It's just that simple.

Man when Hildy went down my heart sunk to my stomach, nice to hear he is just fine even though it looked like it was major. He has earned game 1 for the playoffs and then go from there.
