Saturday night in Weyburn, the Battlefords North Stars scored four unanswered goals and beat Weyburn 4-2.
From the drop of the puck, the Stars had life. Weyburn scored two goals quickly (Geoge and S. Cowey) but the Stars stayed composed.
A scary moment mid-way through the period as Dane Muench injured his right knee after a collision with Brock Appleyard. Dane's night was done and Appleyard got two for boarding.
Brett Miller (19) helped bridge the gap just as Brock Appleyard's penalty expired and moments later Blake Peake (26) scored a beauty as he deked out AJ Whiffen and slid home a backhand.
The Stars killed off a penalty in the early stages of the second, and once he left the penalty box he had a two-on-one with Cody Folstad. Tomac slid a pass across and Folstad was denied by Whiffen. The rebound went right to the waiting Tomac (2) who scored the eventual game winner.
Blake Tatchell (9) would score.in the late stages of the second to finish the game's scoring.
The third period belonged to Graham Hildebrand. Hildy made eight saves, but at least six of them were fantastic.
Add the fact that Flin Flon lost in OT, and the Stars are now five points back of the Bombers for first in the Bauer standings. The Stars have two games in hand, one of which goes tomorrow night in Wilcox.
The Sask-Tel pregame show starts at 7:15.

They are for real, In my mind though Hildy is taking over the Number 1 position in net when you look at the numbers and the games since Xmas. How do you feel Bud?
Watched the game on Weyburn's feed. Their announcers were very impressed with the effort put out by the whole team. It seemed everyone was forechecking and backchecking. I listened to the post game with you, Dano, and the system that Coach Blair described seems to be real. Regardless of what happens in Notre Dame, this weekend would have to be called a success.
It's definitely tough to argue with six wins in a row for Hildy. But in the same breath. Kyle has also stolen many games for this team in his tenure here. Irregardless of who gets the call come playoff time, I guarantee that both goalies are going to get the call at some point and both will be in charge of stealing a win or two. Right now I don't care who's in goal, as long as we win. Both goalies give us the same chance.
