Stars - Wings Preview

***Forgive the lack of logos, I'm doing the preview on my phone due to some inconsistent internet connections***

Weyburn Red Wings

Record: (33-11-0-6) 72 points - First in Sherwood Conference.

Who's Up Front?

Rhett Bly and the Weyburn Red Wings are on fire right now. Last night (at home) against the Kindersley Klippers, Weyburn defeated the 'Klips' 10-0. Rhett Bly led the way with six points. Bly is Weyburn's leading scorer and is one of the best all-around players that I've seen play in this league. Bly skates on a line with Weyburn captain Tyler Penny who is also a tremendous threat. The Stars need to be aware whenever those two take the ice.

Who's on D?

One of the best D-Men in the SJHL is Weyburn's Andrew Perrault. He's tough, dependable and can contribute at both ends of the ice. Perrault will be seeing a TON of ice time tonight, and will certainly be looked upon to make an impact.

Who's in Goal?

AJ Whiffen is on a roll. Whiffen (89) blanked Kindersley last night and in doing so became the SJHL's all-time Shut-Out leader. Does this mean we see Tanner Erickson (89) tonight? It wouldn't surprise me as Dwight McMillan seems to rotate these netminders game by game. Either way, the Stars are going to be in tough, because Weyburn's goalie tandem is easily one of the best in the league. Although the Stars can say the same.

X-Factor:

Weyburn's strength is in their depth. Rodney and Shawn Cowie a long with Drew George could be one of the 'best kept secrets' in the SJHL. The Stars need to find a way to contain these three. George is on a point-a-game pace since joining the Wings in early January.

Battlefords North Stars

Record: (30-16-1-2) Second Place in Bauer Conference. Six points back of Flin Flon with two games in hand.

Who's Up Front?

The Stars scored seven last night, and only Josh Daley scored more than once. The trio of Blake Tatchell, Dane Muench and Ward Szucki have really gelled together. Szucki's got four goals in his last three games, and has quietly scored 15 in his rookie year. The Stars should (hopefully) get a full game from Mitch Wall tonight which will really help against The Wings.

Who's on D?

Cody Folstad's fine season continued last night with a very important goal which tied the score at five. Folstad grabbed his second goal in two games last night, and is doing a fine job of taking care of business defensively as well.

Who's in Goal?

The Million Dollar question. Do you give Kyle Birch a shot at redemption after getting yanked last night? Or do you stick with Hildebrand who has now won four in a row? Your opinions are welcome!

X-Factor:

Tonight might be a breakout night for Blake Peake. He's gone three games now without a goal. He's getting points and is being productive, but without goals. A goal or two from Blake tonight and the Stars are in line for their third win of the year against Weyburn.

I've got a GREAT feeling about tonight's game. Hope you can catch some or all of the game on the radio tonight!

Thanks for reading!
