Stars Acquire Ricci from the Bruins in Exchange for Lane.

The Jordan Lane experiment is over in the Battlefords.

Battlefords North Stars head coach/general manager Ken Pearson announced this afternoon that the Stars have dealt 20-year-old forward Jordan Lane to the Estevan Bruins in exchange for 19-year-old forward Carlo Ricci.

"Ricci is a skilled center, good vision and he plays with some grit," said the coach. "Estevan was looking for some size. We need a center with skill and grit."

Ricci will wear #12 for the Stars, but will not be accompanying the team on their road-trip to Humboldt tomorrow evening.

I expect this trade to be greeted warmly by the North Star fans. The sad reality is that there were very few Lane-lovers out there. I have spoken to a handful of fans that were not convinced that Lane belonged here.

There is no doubt that Lane can bring a ton of experience and toughness to a team, but through five games in a North Star uniform, he never really showed any of that. He did score twice, but I personally think that Lane will thrive more in Estevan. It's a smaller rink, and Estevan has typically possessed 'tall teams' in the past and it has served them well.

Jordan was a nice guy, and I enjoyed my brief conversations with him. But having another true centerman in the fold will be a nice change as well. Ricci is not big, he's only about 5'9, 165 lbs.

Lane was awesome!! Having said that, being awesome doesn't always mean you're going to fit into the team, or rink, or style of play your coach wants you to play.
